Chae Pounds, Community Midwife

Chae Pounds is a mom, wife, and community midwife. She began her birth work journey in 2015 by taking her first doula training. In 2017 she began her journey into midwifery. In 2020 she completed Midwifery school and in 2021 she completed her apprenticeship. In 2022, Chae began practicing midwifery full time as a community midwife in Mississippi.

Hayley Ferut, RN, IBCLC

Hayley is a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She has worked in the emergency department, urgent care, labor and delivery, and postpartum settings. Mamas and babies are definitely her favorite.

Backup for Northshore Families

Grace is the owner ofGrace Midwifery Collective and offers home birth and birth center birth options.

Grace is a licensed certified professional midwife in Louisiana and believes birth is natural and beautiful; it can be a completely different experience when not approached from a fear based mindset. Instead, we choose to approach pregnancy and birth with positive, evidence based information as a biologically normal experience.

Star serves families across South Mississippi and Southeast Louisiana, offering both home birth and birth center services through Grace Midwifery Collective and Archetype Midwifery. Archetype Midwifery offers well person care, VBAC, and more in Mississippi. She is committed to creating a supportive and empowering environment that respects the choices and needs of each family, transforming birth experiences into celebrations of empowerment, health, and happiness.

Effie Michot, LCPM

Back up for New Orleans Families

Effie Michot has been providing midwifery care to women and their families in the New Orleans area since 2011.


​Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Effie lived in New Orleans for 5 years when she went to her first homebirth as a doula. She continued to work as a doula in Brooklyn, NY until 2007, when she began at Birthwise Midwifery School in Maine.
After four years of school and the blessing of working with several different midwifery practices all over the northeast, Effie graduated and moved back to New Orleans.
