Prepared for it all

As first time parents, there are a lot of decisions to make about pregnancy and birth including whether or not to partner with a doula (especially during a global pandemic). Hiring Leila ended up being one of the BEST decisions we made without question. Leila is not only professional but extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. We conducted our meet and greet virtually (due to COVID) and I instantly knew she was the right person to be with us in the delivery room. She takes the time for multiple in depth prenatal visits that help prepare you and your partner for ALL that comes with birth and postpartum. She also gets to know your fears and questions so that you go into your birth feeling so empowered and informed.

When the big day finally came, she was SUCH an integral part of shaping my birth to be a positive one. She created a calm, relaxed environment with twinkle lights and aromatherapy and helped me make informed decisions about induction, fluids, pain management, baby positioning and birthing positions. I am totally convinced that by following the birthing positions suggested by Leila my baby moved from sunny side up to optimal position in a matter of hours. She worked collaboratively with the hospital staff even when we had a tough nurse. When the midwife I wanted to deliver me was about to end her shift and leave, Leila went above and beyond to advocate for me so the midwife stayed for my delivery. Not only was her presence a comfort to me, but also my partner and made us both wonder how anyone births without a doula.

On top of all that, her postpartum visits were SUCH a life saver!!!!! I didn't expect to need so much guidance postpartum but boy, was I wrong. Her tips on breastfeeding, sleep, postpartum recovery (physical and mental) were such a breath of fresh air and helped us get through the first hard weeks with a newborn. I cannot recommend Leila enough!!!!
